Deacons and deaconesses care for the security of those in attendance
at church activities, always being vigilant for the safety and comfort
of all persons. This includes opening the church building(s) before meetings and locking the facility at the conclusion of activities. It also includes prompt removal of ice and snow from the parking lot and sidewalks. Be sure that lighting in the parking lot and around the
building(s) is adequate. In today’s world, it is important to have a plan for dealing with emergencies such as power outages, equipment failure, deranged individuals, bomb threats, etc. Decide ahead of time what supplies are needed and what actions will be taken. The location of your church and size of your congregation will be key factors in your planning.
